Munich Evans Beer - Munich Helles (8 x 473 mL cans)
πΊ Munich Evans: German Tradition in Your Glass
Munich Evans is a craft beer made with precision and soul by The Nose Mustache brewery. It is a legitimate representative of the Munich Helles style, combining simplicity, elegance, and high refreshment in a recipe that balances noble malts and traditional German hops.
π Brief History of the Style: Munich's Answer
In the late 19th century, dark beers (Dunkel) dominated the Bavaria region of Germany. However, the city of PlzeΕ (in today's Czech Republic) revolutionized the market with the creation of Pilsner, a clear, golden beer that became a worldwide hit.
To avoid losing ground, Munich's master brewers reacted. In 1894, the famous Spaten brewery created Munich Helles ("Helles" means "clear" or "bright" in German). Unlike Pilsner, which focuses on hop bitterness, Helles was designed to celebrate the flavor of local malt, resulting in a golden, slightly sweet, less bitter, and extremely easy-to-drink beer.
π§ͺ The Anatomy of Munich Evans: The Ingredients of Our Munich
To create this experience, The Nose Mustache selected the highest quality ingredients:
-
The 4 Malts: A rich combination that brings a robust cereal base, reminiscent of fresh bread crumbs and biscuits.
-
The German Hops:
-
Magnum: Ensures a clean, subtle, and balanced bitterness.
-
Mittelfrueh: A noble hop that provides a very delicate floral and spicy aroma.
-
The Diamond Yeast: A legitimate bottom-fermenting Lager strain that works very cleanly, allowing the brilliance of the malt and hops to shine without interference from fruity aromas.
π‘ Consumption Experience
-
Optimal Temperature: Ideally served between 4Β°C and 7Β°C. Too cold (below that) dulls the taste buds and hides the malt aromas.
-
Suggested Glass: Willybecher (the traditional German Lager glass) or the Glass Mug (Mass). They help retain the foam and concentrate the floral aromas of the hops.
π½οΈ Suggested Pairings
Munich Evans is incredibly versatile at the table due to its balance between malt sweetness and carbonation that cleanses the palate.
-
German White Sausages (Weisswurst) with Dark Mustard: The sweetness of the malt cuts through the fat of the meat, while the hops converse with the spices of the mustard.
-
Bakery Roast Chicken (Television Chicken): The beer perfectly complements the roasted and salty skin of the chicken, without overpowering the lightness of the white meat.
-
Gouda or Emmental Cheese: Medium-aged cheeses with nutty notes find a perfect match in the biscuit and bakery profile of this Helles.
