Harvest Beer - Hop Lager (473 mL can)
πΎ Harvest - Hop Lager: A Celebration of Harvest and Innovation
Harvest is a jewel from The Nose Mustache brewery. Its name is not by chance: it celebrates the use of the German hop Mittelfrueh grown directly in the brewery's own backyard. A Hop Lager that combines the freshness of local harvest with the aromatic power of the new American school.
π Brief History of the Style: The Meeting of Two Worlds
The Hop Lager style (sometimes called India Pale Lager or IPL) is a modern and creative fusion between two great brewing schools. On one side, we have the technique of traditional German Lagers: low-fermentation beers, light and extremely refreshing. On the other, the American audacity of adding generous amounts of aromatic hops through Dry Hopping (adding hops during the maturation phase).
The result is the best of both worlds: a beer that has the lightness and high refreshment of a Lager, but with the explosion of tropical, floral and citrus aromas that were previously only found in high-fermentation IPAs.
π§ͺ The Anatomy of Harvest
This recipe is a true bridge between European tradition and American modernity:
-
The Malt Base (Pilsen and Carapils): Pilsen malt brings the clear golden color and clean cereal flavor. Carapils enters in a subtle proportion to ensure a slightly velvety body and a dense, long-lasting foam, without adding sweetness.
-
The Intercontinental Hop Trio:
-
Mittelfrueh (Own Cultivation): The great pride of the recipe. It brings classic floral, herbal and spicy notes, very elegant and with the unbeatable freshness of a fresh hop.
-
Ekuanot and Loral (American): They enter to envelop the floral base with modern and complex notes that evoke tropical fruits, citrus (such as lime and papaya) and a subtle touch of fine herbs.
-
Diamond Yeast: Being a highly efficient low-fermentation Lager yeast, it ensures an extremely clean and dry sensory profile. This creates the perfect blank canvas for the house hops and American hops to shine brightly.
π‘ Consumption Experience
-
Optimal Temperature: Ideally served between 4Β°C and 6Β°C. As a Lager focused on refreshment, it requires slightly lower temperatures, but without freezing, to preserve the volatility of the aromatic oils of the three hops.
-
Suggested Glass: Pilsner Glass or Pokal Glass. The conical shape of these glasses directs carbonation to keep the foam always beautiful and funnels the complex aromas directly to the customer's nose.
π½οΈ Suggested Pairings
Harvest has a subtle acidity, clean bitterness and high carbonation, making it perfect for cleansing the palate of light or slightly fatty dishes.
-
White Fish Ceviche: The citrus and floral profile of Ekuanot and Loral hops acts as a "liquid seasoning", perfectly combining with the lemon, red onion and cilantro of the dish.
-
Margherita Pizza: The herbal touch of the homegrown Mittelfrueh hop makes a perfect pairing with the fresh basil of the pizza, while the malt base highlights the baked crust.
-
Fried Bar Snacks (Cheese Pastel or Coxinha): The high carbonation and clean bitterness instantly break the greasy sensation of fried food in the mouth, preparing the palate for the next bite.
